In November 2009, Mark and Patricia Zilkha visited Hadassah's Pediatric Wing A, dedicated by friends and family in memory of Eliahou Zilkha, Mark's father. The ward, said Mark, represented everything his father desired, a loving and caring environment where Jewish and Arab children are treated by both Arabs and Jews.
The pediatric ward completed renovations and it is now a warm, hospitable and welcoming environment for children and their families. The physical changes to the ward included an infusion of color decor and pictures of animals, which does much to alleviate the stresses that frequently accompany long period of hospitalization. Cheerful classrooms provide a place for children to be involved with activities unrelated to their illness and the reception area has a television to provide some respite for parents who endure endless days in the hospital.
The Jerusalem Foundation is proud to be associated with this project and thanks the many donors who contributed to this vision: Sir Trevor Chinn, Michael and Pyrite Goddard, David Khalastchi, Frank Khalastchi, Guy Naggar, Gerald Ronson, Harvey Soning, Barry Townsley CBE, and an anonymous donor.
