This Week in Jerusalem

This week is an exciting point in the Jerusalem cultural scene, as it marks the opening of two music festivals that are supported by the Jerusalem Foundation:

  1. The Oud Festival ( is a celebration of one of the Middle East’s most famous string instruments. The festival will bring together both local and international performers, featuring classic Oud music, alongside more modern renditions and performances that use the Oud as a means of exploring meeting-points between Western and Eastern cultures. (Insider’s tip: Atcha Bar, the Jerusalem Foundation’s Director of Culture and Arts, recommends Zohar Fresco’s performance marking the release of his new album “Tof Miriam”.)

  2. The International Music Showcase 2015 ( will provide a platform for some of Israel’s best music from a variety of genres, including rock, indie, electronic and jazz. The showcase will offer local artists the opportunity to gain international exposure, as music industry experts from around the globe gather to see the wide range of excellent music that Israel has to offer. Billed as “8 days with the best bands and ensembles in Israel”, the festival will take place at the Yellow Submarine, a Jerusalem Foundation initiative that’s become an essential part of Jerusalem’s cultural scene.
